"Atticus"
he believed
not a man with a gun
is what real courage is
he believed
It's not okay to hate anybody
hold your head high
and keep those fists down
try fighting with your head
he was
the humblest
the bravest man
but
Atticus was only a man
no
Atticus is
what real courage is
In my poem I wrote about Atticus's beliefs and some of his wise words to his children. He believes in peace and that is shown when he tells Scout not to use violence when people tell her things she doesn't like. It is also shown when he tells his kids that a man with a gun is not what real courage is. Besides his beliefs, I added what Atticus is like. He is a humble and courageous man and a wise man.
------------
I wrote this before realizing that the poem had to be about the character's beliefs.
"Dill"
"With him, life was routine; without him, life was unbearable"

Hey
Charles Baker Harris
I'm little but I'm old
goin' on seven
one year my senior
blue linen shorts
buttoned to his shirt
snow white duckfluff
Dill
with him, life was routine
summer came
Dill was not there
he would love me forever
come and get me
marry me
kiss me when Jem was not looking
I stayed miserable
Without him, life was unbearable.
In this poem I focus on part of the relationship that Scout and Dill had.
The first half of the poem focus on the characters meeting Dill. Dill's first words to him were "hey" so that is why that is the first word of my poem. He's introduced as Charles Baker Harris but the children are told that people call him Dill. We start of with a basic character description like what he was wearing and what he looks like. I skipped the development of their relationships and reflected on how Scout felt in the beginning of Chapter 12 after learning Dill would not be visiting that summer.
I loved both your poems! You did a good job putting all the phrases together in a way that made sense! Great Job :)
