Harrison
I commented on Abdiel, Nik, and Emily's blogs.
For those who don't know me well, I do not like sports. They are horrible and tiring, in other words, I'm much too lazy to participate in them. Playing sports is one thing to me, but watching them is even boring for me. I know that a lot of people think they are the raddest thing ever and think, "wow the Chicago Bulls scored one heck of a home run" but to me it isn't so great. This week I have been reading Unstoppable by Tim Green, and guess what? It's a sports book! The cover has a boy running with a football, why would I pick to read this book? Not only because it's for Battle of the Books, but because the description caught my attention. Unstoppable is about a boy named Harrison who is in foster care. His previous homes were cruel and he has dark secrets until he moves to a new home. His home has loving parents, and his foster dad is a football coach at the local high school. Harrison has always wanted to play football, but couldn't because his old homes made him work all day.
In the last few chapters that I have read, Harrison joins the football team. He has never played football ever but in football practice he is amazing, almost unstoppable. Don't you love it when they say the title of the book inside the story or television show (usually novelas, and since the titles are usually cheesy, I think that it's the greatest thing in the world.) In the story, Coach Lee told Coach, "That kid is unstoppable" as he referred to Harrison. That's absolutely fantastic.
Today Marisa told be that the book was actually pretty sad in some parts. I could predict that because this book is kind of dramatic. Harrison comes from an abusive home and those are the kind of things that he can't just leave behind. There is something that I don't understand is the death of a previous foster parent. I don't understand if Harrison killed him, or it was an accident.
Unstoppable is a good book and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Great Blog! This book seems really interesting! I love sports and you made this book sound really interesting. I look forward to reading your next blogs. Good job!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I too, hate sports and watching them as well. I really like how you described the main points in the story and how you included your own opinions. Can't wait to read your next blog post!
ReplyDeleteWith the death of his former foster parent I think because they were arguing the others just thought Harrison killed him, but the cow actually kicked him in the head(Right? I read this awhile ago so I'm not 100% sure). I love it to when they say the title of something in the book/T.V. show like in Doctor Who! I always start to freak out when they say, "Doctor who?". Anyways, what do you think will happen to Harrison later on in the book?
ReplyDeleteI've actually read this book recently and there were some pretty sad parts as Marisa said. I think you'll love the last line of the book. I mean I did. I would just feel so bad for Harrison for having to live with his cruel fosters parents. He didn't deserve it at all. I'm glad though that he got the chance to play football like he always wanted. This book is amazing.
