Notes From the Midnight Driver by Jordan Sonnenblick would be the most appropriate title for this book that I am currently reading. This story is about a sixteen-year old named Alex who got drunk and drove at midnight. He gets in trouble with the law and he has to make up for it by doing service hours at a nursing home. Throughout the book, there are notes that he delivers to the judge, telling them about his progress and how he is doing. I'd say it's a very fitting title.
I really enjoy Notes From the Midnight Driver because it's humorous but it still teaches some things about life. When Alex was drunk driving, he drove on a neighbors yard, running over a garden gnome. As serious as drunk driving and under-aged drinking is, running over a garden gnome made it seem a bit funny because Alex has to pay back for damaged property. It doesn't sound funny (it actually sounds inappropriate that I find this situation funny) when I say it, so everyone should just read the book.
The biggest lesson that this book has taught me is: Don't drink and drive. When Alex was in the incident, no one got seriously injured (except the garden gnome) but in real life, someone gets hurt or killed more than half the times that these things happen. Lesson learned, drinking and driving is bad!
I think this book is one of the books in Battle of the Book. I've seen a lot of people read this book. I once read a book from the same author called Drums,Girls, and Dangerous Pie. This book kind of ties in with the book I read because I think that they're part of a series. I liked how you shared your true opinions and I agree because this author always tries to make his books humorous. Great Blog Post
ReplyDeleteGood blog. You did a good job explaining why the title fit the book. I might want to read this book because you said its humorous and I like funny things.
ReplyDeleteI commented on Diego, Gabe and Stanley's blogs.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog this week because from what I read about if the title fits the story, I would've probably said that same thing. Why did Alex get drunk? I think it's actually pretty great for a book to have a lesson about drinking and driving because there are really situations out there probably similar to this book. Was it just a gnome that he hit? Hopefully, later on in the book he realizes what he did was wrong and that he's not thinking of doing it again.
