Week of 10/14/13: Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Prompt: Describe the main characters.
• What is the mood of what you’re reading (happy, sad, funny, serious, etc.)?
Defend your idea.
Pages: 1-52

I am currently reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. I'm still not sure if I like or dislike this book. Then again, the conflict has not been yet introduced. In the last chapter I read, it was in Tiny's point of view. Tiny is actually a pretty big guy. Tiny always thinks that he's in love every time he sees a cute boy. He isn't very popular but he is the complete opposite of shy. He's never afraid to announce to the class that he's "in love". In the story, his friend Will Grayson says, "I could have sworn Tiny was in love with a Zach during precalc. But forty-seven minutes have passed since his proclamation, so maybe he's changed gears. Tiny has had about 3,900 boyfriend- half of them Internet-only." Will Grayson is also a main character, but they don't describe his personality that well yet.

The mood of what I am reading is funny. This book is meant to have a humorous nature. I know this because the characters are all sarcastic and they swear so much it's not even necessary. If a book has unnecessary swearing, it wouldn't have a serious tone. It also has a few jokes in it and that's what makes it funny. So far in the story, I haven't been introduced to the conflict so I don't think it will have it's serious tone yet.

Despite it's unnecessary and obnoxious swearing, this is a great book so far. I would recommend all of my classmates to read it. If you like realistic fiction, it's a good selection. I like how Will Grayson, Will Grayson doesn't have all the characters have the same or similar traits. This is a typical problem with stories so this is great to have for a change.

    1. I started reading An Abundance of Katherines but I wasn't a big fan of that book. I read the first few pages of Looking for Alaska. It's great, after reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson I will most likely finish Looking for Alaska! (:
