Without the slightest hesitation, the youth opened the door on the right. He didn't hesitate because he knew in his heart that his loved one would let him live. This would mean being with another woman but he just knew he would never love anyone more than he loved the princess. The youth saw a big tiger at the other side of the door. His heart was beating fast. The tiger wasn't moving and the youth became confused. Was he sleeping, was the tiger even alive? The youth decided to go closer, he was meant to die anyway. The tiger wasn't moving and you couldn't hear him breath. You could hear the crowd shouting comments like, "Is he dead? What's going on?" Yes, the tiger was dead. It must have died of starvation since the people have been starving the tiger so it would have to appetite to attack and eat the "criminal". It took awhile for the youth to realize he was betrayed. Who he thought loved him, wanted him to die! He went back and faced the crowd. Everyone applauded.
"He's alive! He's no criminal, father!" said the princess, excited. Now the princess can be with him.
The semi barbaric king looked at the youth and at the princess, he smiled a crooked smile and nodded his head. Now the princess and the youth can be together at last.
Heart broken in two, the youth walked out of the arena. The princess ran after him, not realizing what she did was wrong, "We can be together at last, no secrets, no worries" she smiled sweetly at him, "No other woman." She held on the his arm but he pulled away.
"I thought you loved me!" he shouted at her, giving her a disgusted look.
It barely occurred to the princess that she almost got her love killed. Jealousy won the best of her. She thought that she was the only one that can have him. The woman behind the door was beautiful, but out of everyone who they could've had him marry, they chose her.
She stared at him. Maybe he'll forgive her. He loves her, does he not?
"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking!" she lied.
"Rubbish! You had so many days to think about it." the youth looked at her with broken eyes.
The princess began to cry. She should've expected it, she knew she was going to loose him either way. Her ex-lover shook his head and walked away.
This was a really good story! It is very different and unexpected.! I loved it.
